To mark the 170th anniversary of Van Gogh’s birth in 2023, the exhibition The 70 days of Vincent at Auvers<\/em> documents this period of intense creativity at the end of the artist’s life.<\/p>\n

The works created by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) during his stay in Auvers-sur-Oise have deeply influenced the course of art history. They illustrate the painter\u2019s extensive research on colour at the time and offer a vivid testimony of Auvers-sur-Oise at the end of the 19th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n

During the 70 days he spends in Auvers, Vincent writes letters to his brother Theo, his sister Wil, and his mother\u2026 In these letters he describes himself and his surroundings very earnestly, with a high level of sensitivity. Due to his letters he remains to this day the highest authority in analysing the works he painted during this time.<\/p>\n

By means of placing Vincent\u2019s writings alongside his works, this documentary exhibition created by the Daubigny Museum<\/a> aims to offer a complete overview of Van Gogh\u2019s work in Auvers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
