This Barbizon Painters’ Trail (or Circuit des peintres) allows visitors to the village to follow in the footsteps of 19th-century landscape artists who painted here. From Barbizon to Fontainebleau Forest (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), this trail enables you to discover spots where various artists worked before immersing yourself in the countryside, unearthing further sites that inspired them.

Absolutely not to be missed – Barbizon’s open-air museum consisting of 20 modern creations made out of Venetian glass, executed by mosaic-makers. This cultural and tourist walk leads you on a trail of more than 6km through the heart of Barbizon village, via the Plaine de l’Angélus, to the edge of Fontainebleau Forest.
