Take in the truly enchanting harbour scenes here that so delighted post-Impressionist painter Paul Signac. Located at the northern end of the Cotentin Peninsula, with its adorable granite houses, the little port of Barfleur in fact drew numerous artists, painters and writers. Signac was just one of them. He lived here from 1932 to 1935, in a house opposite the church of St Nicholas, as a plaque indicates today. Passionate about the sea, Signac devoted several works to Barfleur and the Cotentin, as well as to the Bessin area a little further south.
