Part of the musée de l’Orangerie’s tribute to Monet on the centenary of his passing in 2026, the virtual reality experience Monet au fil de l’eau (Monet along the water) offers a unique journey into the heart of the Impressionist master’s work from September 30, 2026, to March 29, 2027.

This 20-minute sequence is based on the virtual reality experience L’Obsession des Nymphéas, produced in 2018 by Lucid Realities and presented at the musée de l’Orangerie in 2018 and 2024.

From Argenteuil to Giverny, from the Seine to the water lily pond, this experience takes us on a journey of discovery through the work of Claude Monet and his obsession with capturing the passage of time in his depictions of landscapes, with light effects that change according to the time of day and the seasons: his series (the Poplars, the Mornings, the Water Lily Ponds, the Water Landscapes, the Japanese Bridges, the Grandes décorations…), the history of his house in Giverny and his pond, but also his struggle with blindness and his evolution towards an almost abstract style of painting.

The Monet au fil de l’eau (Monet along the water) virtual reality experience is available on a standalone headset and is available in French and English in the Soutine room. This immersive project accompanies the Monet et le temps (Monet and Time) exhibition.

Experience the moments of happiness that inspired painters in Normandy and Paris Region for the 150th anniversary of Impressionism!
