To celebrate the birth of Impressionism 150 years ago, Auvers and the Oise Valley are offering a rich programme of events.

At Auvers, the cultural season is doing the 150th anniversary of the birth of Impressionism proud, proposing, among other things, guided tours, family treasure hunts, plays, outdoor cinema, shows, lectures, and painting and writing workshops.

Van Gogh: the last journeys, an exceptional exhibition at the Château d’Auvers is dedicated to the great artist’s four final years. Till 29th September, it invites visitors to follow Van Gogh’s geographical and artistic explorations through France, from 1886 to 1890, notably focusing on his stay in Auvers-sur-Oise, where he painted over 75 canvases in under 70 days.

Two other exhibitions are also on display: De l’atelier au paysage. Fabrique de l’Impressionnisme, from 23rd March to 22nd September at the Musée Daubigny and L’atelier, de l’espace clos au plein air, from end of April to end of October at the Maison-atelier Daubigny.

Around Pontoise, the programme of events includes river cruises, fun tours and guided tours, lectures and workshops on the theme of the Impressionists and other great artists who painted or stayed in Cergy-Pontoise, Maurecourt, Osny or Pontoise.

Finally, the 4th edition of the Automne Impressioniste festival will take place from October to November 2024 between Pontoise, Auvers-sur-Oise and L’Isle-Adam. Taking place in the heart of the Oise Valley, the festival is also honouring the 150th anniversary of the birth of Impressionism. On the programme: exhibitions, art walks, creative workshops… all experiences highlighting the timeless heritage of this revolutionary artistic movement.
