The Musée Baron Gérard invites visitors on a veritable journey to the heart of European art history. Amidst these collections, on display in Bayeux’s splendid former bishops’ palace, the Impressionist pieces have a special place.
Absolutely not to be missed: paintings by Boudin and, since 2020, two canvases by Caillebotte: Portraits à la campagne and Paysage à Argenteuil. These two works were given by Gustave Caillebotte to his cousin Zoé, who ‘‘inherited’’ Portraits à la campagne on the occasion of her wedding in Bayeux.
