Gardens, as dreamy places offering a refuge for the senses, appear frequently in the works of painters from Renoir to Monet and Vuillard to Bonnard, reflecting the great interest the Impressionists and Nabis had for these lush spaces. This exhibition at Giverny’s Musée des Impressionnismes highlights this feeling for gardens via some 100 paintings, drawings, prints and photographs.
Visitors can study the different visions of gardens presented by these artists before wandering around the splendid museum gardens, especially reconfigured to echo this exhibition.
In conjunction with it, two works by contemporary artist Eva Jospin are on display in the gardens, adding a new dimension to the museum’s collections.
