• Van Gogh and Daubigny: poster of the exhibition at the Maison-atelier Daubigny in Auvers-sur-Oise

To celebrate the 170th anniversary of Vincent van Gogh’s birth, the Maison-atelier Daubigny in Auvers-sur-Oise is staging an exhibition highlighting the link between the famous Dutch painter and Charles-François Daubigny.

A fervent admirer of Daubigny, Van Gogh referred to several of his works in his correspondence with his brother Theo and his friends. Thus, in June 1888, he stated:

Daubigny is really bold with colour.

Some of these paintings are displayed here alongside Vincent’s letters and quotations. The highlight of the exhibition is a reproduction of one of his “most desirated” canvases, Le Jardin de Daubigny (Daubigny’s Garden), which he had been contemplating since his arrival in Auvers-sur-Oise.
